Good Reference Text

I have used this text as a reference text and it is very good for that. It might be hard if used in a course because there are so many more readable texts in ANT.

Uncompromising and difficult

Make no mistae about it, this is a very difficult book. It is pitched at a highly advanced level and assumes a good deal of ring and field theory and makes no concessions by way of pausing to briefly summarise what is assumed at any point. Parts of the book also progress very quickly and consist of streams of definitions with next to no examples followed by a chunk of theorems that depend on the terms introduced to such an extent that the material has to be re-read many times to glean any understanding. Although in terms of the amount of material covered this is a comprehensive text, it is far too concise for student use. It might have some limited appeal as an advanced postgraduate reference book, but for anyone not already well up to speed in algebraic number theory this will be heavy going indeed.

This book seems to be a good description of Algibraic valuations. Potential buyers should know that it assumes what seems to be a knowlage of graduate-level mathematics, particularly a thurogh knowlage of mathematical fields.

Hard one.

This one was a tough cookie for me. And I think will be for many others as well. This concept is deep into Jacobsonian linguistics and if you do not walk into it with that background it will be tough. I have no doubt it is a great resource for those in the field. But I was a little taken back by it difficult dry style of writing, and depth of assumed knowledge it requires of its readers. I would recommend this only to those who have a background in the specific field of linguistics from which she draws.

Much Needed Ministry

Rebecca Greenwood has written a book which not only teaches the Biblical basis for strategic-level spiritual warfare, but gives many first-hand examples of its implementation. The precautions that are necessary before entering into this level of spiritual warfare are thoroughly covered as well. It is not a guide for beginners but seasoned and prepared prayer warriors. There is a void of knowledge in this subject area, so this book fills a real need.

You wanna learn Intercession-Read this!!!

I have read a lot of intercession books, but this one to me should be an intercessors Criteria book. If you are someone who is in charge or heads up an intercessors ministry you should use this book for a person who is really wanting to "fight the front lines" of intercession. Becca shares with you how to strategically align yourself and aligning yourself with others for intercession. She shares personal experiences of actually going out and intereceding for places which are under heavy oppression. The amazing part is to see the Power come out of strongholds when they are broken in her ministry of intercedeing. You also learn the blessings which come out of being obediant to a calling of this magnitude. My favorite part is when they are in an area which has a lot of idolatry. They begin to pray and praise the Lord, stir up the presence of God. They are being obediant to their calling, but in the midst of it all there are two women who ask "..who is your God you are praying to?" Becca begins to share the Gospel and they receive it. WOW! God strategically put them there for prayer, but also had them there for these two women! I really shortened the story, but there is so much "wealth" of knoweledge in this book! Thank you Becca!!!

About the Author

Mike Jefferies is a chartered civil engineer. Graduating from King’s (London), an interest in theoretical soil mechanics lead to an MSc from Imperial. He has worked for Golder Associates since 1978, with a ten year absence largely at Gulf Canada. Based in Vancouver and an Associate of the company since 1992, Mike is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester.

Ken Been is a chartered civil engineer. Graduating from University of Cape Town, an interest in experimental soil mechanics and a Rhodes Scholarship lead to a PhD at Oxford. He has worked as a geotechnical consultant for Golder Associates since 1981, becoming a Principal of the company in 1991. He is presently based in Houston.

Absolutely fabulous. Super powerful!

Do you want to increase your personal power? Become more creative? Gain more energy? Have better relationships? Get the job or promotion you want? Set goals? Make decisions? Even get the house you want? This book will help you do it. I know. Because I wrote it! I've been using these techniques for years -- and they work for me! In fact I recently used them to do a workshop for the managers of an autodealership in El Salvador in Spanish (with a translator), and went not knowing virtually anything about El Salvador, the auto industry, or even what I was supposed to do. But somehow, I just trusted in these techniques and let them guide what the workshop was going to be about -- and somehow magically it all worked

Great Tips on How to Become More Creative

I thought this was a terrific with great ideas on tapping into one's intuition using visualization. I found it helped me in a lot of ways, including setting goals, achieving them, and solving problems. It also helped me recognize and develop my talents, and I was able to feel more charged up with more energy from using some of the experience. It helped me relax more and feel less stress. A great book.

Is there such a thing as "too" minimalistic? That being said, it gave some interesting viewpoints to another perspective on what it means to be minimalistic, and although I don't agree with every aspect of the authors opinion overall it was an enlightening read.

In addition to discussing the most common neurodegenerative conditions, many rare neurodegenerative conditions are highlighted. Most chapters include an autopsy-confirmed case presentation from the authors' files. Following the case presentation, those chapters present current diagnostic criteria, epidemiology, neuropathology/neurophysiology, genetics, neuroimaging studies as relevant, associated clinical features, differential neuropsychological features and possible interventions for each disorder.

The pace of change in research and practice in the field of normal cognitive aging and dementia is increasing almost as fast as the median age of the population. The massive baby boom population bubble is currently entering the age of risk for neurodegenerative conditions. Neuropsychologists will play a major role in refining and applying these diagnoses, and in developing, testing, and refining interventions for these diagnoses, and in caring for this population. This book is intended to prepare neuropsychologists and others interested in neuropsychology to serve this fastest growing segment of our population.

About the Author

Glenn E. Smith, Ph.D., ABPP/CN, is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist and Professor of Psychology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. He has served as principal investigator of the Mayo Alzheimer's Disease Research Center Education Core and is Associate Director of Mayo's Clinical and Translational Science Education Resource. Dr. Smith has had continuous research funding since 1994 and has authored or co-authored over 180 original articles on normal aging, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. He is past president of the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology and of the Division of Clinical Neuropsychology of the American Psychological Association. In addition to supervising post-doctoral fellows, he maintains an active diagnostic neuropsychology practice. He led development of and directs Mayo's Dementia Behavior Assessment and Response Team and HABIT (Healthy Action to Benefit Independence and Thinking) program for persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment.

Mark W. Bondi, Ph.D., ABPP/CN, is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego, and Director of the Neuropsychological Assessment Unit at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. He is recipient of a Mid-Career Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research from the National Institute on Aging. His NIH funded research centers on the cognitive and brain changes of individuals at risk for dementia, and he has published more than 120 articles, books, and book chapters. Dr. Bondi is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and National Academy of Neuropsychology, former Secretary APA's Division of Clinical Neuropsychology, and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology and Board of Governors of the International Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Bondi maintains a clinical practice in neuropsychology, and he is an active teacher and supervisor for his institution's doctoral

Great advice for recent graduates or current students

I read about this book in a NYT "career advice" article. Given the fact that I was in my last semester of college, I ordered the book thinking it would help me in my upcoming job search.

I landed a good job in a major city just a few days after ordering this book. For that reason, given the intensity of my last semester and a move across the country, it took me a few months to pick the book up. Had I read the book before I took the job, it would have given me advice and suggestions on negotiating my starting salary, observing the office culture, and networking.

Still, despite having landed the job I wanted, this book has been helpful. It has opened my eyes to the importance of the persona you put on at work, the way you interact with co-workers, and the importance of networking within your respective industry. If I ever consider switching jobs, I have no doubt this book will help with the transition.

But, this book is not just for the recent graduate! It provides valuable advice for any college student, regardless of your class or academic standing. Given the fact that Ms. Pollak is young and down to earth, it offers real world suggestions that affect the younger generations; this includes cleaning up your "online record" of social networking profiles, book reviews, etc. It also provides excellent samples of resumes, cover letters, and lines to use when attending job fairs or industry trade shows. The chapter on potential interview questions is top notch!

I highly recommend this book. Since it is broken down into suggestions instead of chapters, it is an easy (but informative) read!

A Must Read for Job Seekers

This book can be summed up in one word - advantage.

I have read several books and have attended many classes and seminars on career planning to know that this book is it! I have to admit that even with all of my knowledge on resume writing and interviewing, I was still taking notes, this book is that great. Getting from College to Career of the most complete guides to job-hunting that manages (very well I must say) to keep the reader engaged, enlightened and well informed, all at the same time. Lindsey's advice is practical and easy to implement for both college students and recent college graduates.

Getting from College to Career is an essential reading for anyone who wants to have an advantage in their career. I wish I had this book before I graduated so that I could have taken advantage of all the advice that Lindsey so perfectly dishes out to readers in 90 steps. It is the advice that you wouldn't normally hear from college Career Service Centers, but it's what you need to know if you want a leg up on the competition. My hope is that colleges jump on the bandwagon and start giving this book out during freshmen orientation.

Definitely pick this book up if you or for someone you know who is going through the job search process, they will thank you for it.

This should be required for students

I will graduate in 5 months and I learned more by reading this book than I have in the majority of my classes. Here's why:

Content - The material is applicable to everyday life and has kept me from making stupid mistakes that make me look like a "college kid" vs a "young professional."

Voice - It's relieving to finally read a book by an author that understands our generation and knows how we like to learn.

Action - After every step, there is an action item to put into practice. A great way to read the book is over one month, doing three action items each day.

Every student should read this book before they graduate.
